This two day course takes place at Ludlow Conference Centre and starts at 10.00am and finishes at 4.00pm.

'Learn some interesting and imaginative techniques for developing your watercolour paintings. This course moves on from the Taster Course and introduces more skills and techniques. Beginners and more advanced are welcome.Our theme will be based around landscape and still life.'

Course Outline includes:

  • Welcome and introduction
  • Drawing and painting demonstrations based around Still Life and Landsacpe
  • A short session on colour theory and colour mixing
  • An introduction to the techniques of watercolour painting in relation to Still Life and Landsacpe
  • How to create ideas for your paintings and compose them ready for painting
  • Painting your picture together with lots of motivating and informative advice
  • A plenary session, where each work will be considered individually by Paul who will offer expert commentary and advice

A light lunch plus is provided. MATERIALS ARE NOT PROVIDED on this course. Please bring your own Drawing and Painting materials. If you want Paul to supply all your materials please see Related Products below.


This course uses watercolour paint.

Suggested materials: A range of watercolour brushes of various sizes and types e.g. Round No 1 or No 2 and No 8 or 10, Flat No 6 or 8 and a 1" or similar Hake brush. A watercolour paint box with minimum of 12 colours by a reputable supplier, Winsor Newton/Rowney etc. One watercolour pad size A3 or similar, preferably 140lb or 300 gsm paper.
