This Intensive three day Portrait Painting Course takes place at Ludlow Conference Centre and starts at 10:00am and finishes at 4:00pm

We shall start by drawing the face and understanding its proportions together with exploring flesh colour mixes and traditional and bolder approaches to portraiture.

Paul will demonstrate his own methods for painting portraits and will work alongside students as well as giving demonstrations and advice throughout the three days. A model will be available on the third day.

Course Outline includes:

• Welcome and introduction
• Drawing and painting demonstrations of the face
  
• A short session on colour theory and colour mixing
• How to compose your picture ready for painting
• Painting your pictures together with lots of motivating and informative advice
• A plenary session, where each work will be considered individually by Paul who will offer expert commentary and advice

A light lunch plus is provided. MATERIALS ARE NOT PROVIDED on this course. Please bring your own Drawing and Painting materials. If you want Paul to supply all your materials please see Related Products below.

This course uses acrylic paint.

Suggested materials: A range of acrylic/oil brushes of various sizes and types e.g. Filbert No 5, Flat No 4, No 8, Round No 1 or No 2 and No 4. Colours: permanent rose, lemon yellow, red oxide (used to be called Indian Red) ultramarine, titanium white, burnt umber, yellow ochre, cadmium yellow, possibly vermilion hue, permanent green and winsor blue. One acrylic painting pad minimum size A3, preferably 16 x 20 inches.

Course suitable for those with some experience and more advanced students
