This one day course takes place at Shrawley Village Hall and starts at 10.00am and finishes at 4.00pm.

'This is a Taster course. The assumption is that the student has no previous knowledge of acrylic painting or is probably a beginner. No previous drawing or painting experience is assumed.

The course introduces acrylic painting and covers a number of basic techniques and skills. There will be lots of demonstrations and opportunities to practice during the morning and in the afternoon students will complete a small painting under the direction of Paul.

Course Outline includes:

  • Welcome and introduction
  • Demonstration of basic techniques
  • A short session on colour theory and colour mixing
  • Practice session
  • Working under the guidance of Paul to create a small painting
  • A plenary session, where each work will be considered individually by Paul who will offer expert commentary and advice

All materials are provided on Taster Courses together with an easel and board. A light lunch is also provided.

This course uses Acrylic Paint.

If you wish to bring your own materials this is a suggested list: A range of acrylic/oil brushes of various sizes and types e.g. Filbert No 5, Flat No 4, No 8, Round No 1 or No 2 and No 4. Colours: permanent rose, lemon yellow, ultramarine, titanium white, burnt umber, yellow ochre, cadmium yellow, possibly vermilion hue, permanent green and winsor blue. One acrylic painting pad minimum size A3, preferably 16 x 20 inches.

Course suitable for Beginners and those with more experience of drawing and painting with other mediums
