This two day course takes place at Leinwardine Community Centre, Leintwardine, Shropshire and starts at 10:00am and finishes at 4:00pm

This is course is aimed at those who wish to develop their painting by exploring new ideas and techniques. We shall look at the various additives that can be added to acrylics to change their properties.

We shall also look at how a number of modern artists use acrylics. before exploring ways in which we can use the the beautiful locality of Leintwardine as a starting point for our  paintings.

Course Outline includes:

  • Welcome and introduction
  • A look at the work of modern figurative artists
  • Painting demonstrations by Paul
  • A short session on colour theory and colour mixing
  • An introduction to the techniques and methods of acrylic painting
  • How to create ideas for your paintings and compose them ready for painting
  • Painting your picture together with lots of motivating and informative advice
  • A plenary session, where each work will be considered individually by Paul who will offer expert commentary and advice


A light lunch plus is provided. MATERIALS ARE NOT PROVIDED on this course. Please bring your own Drawing and Painting materials. If you want Paul to supply all your materials please see Related Products below.

This course uses acrylic/oil/watercolour paint. Suggested materials: A range of acrylic/oil brushes of various sizes and types e.g. Filbert No 5, Flat No 4, No 8, Round No 1 or No 2 and No 4. Colours: permanent rose, lemon yellow, ultramarine, titanium white, burnt umber, yellow ochre, cadmium yellow, possibly vermilion hue, permanent green and winsor blue. One acrylic painting pad minimum size A3, preferably 16 x 20 inches.

Course suitable for Beginners (especially those who have attended the relevant Taster Course) and those looking to extend their knowledge.
