Paul's Biography
Paul Priestley was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire some time last century. In his early years, he became the proud owner of a Blue Peter badge, won for a poster he designed of Bradford’s City Hall. Spurred on by this monumental achievement, he went off to college and emerged some years later as an art teacher.
He ran a very successful Art Department in a Boys Grammar School in Essex, before leaving teaching to set up Filbert Splosh art experiences. For the past six years Paul has flourished, running his own unique painting and drawing courses at venues in Herefordshire, Shropshire, Worcestershire and numerous other places around the country.
Paul has developed in other ways also, taking on the persona of artists such as Van Gogh, Picasso and Salvador Dali as part of his interactive art experiences to such august institutions as HSBC, Land Rover and The National Trust as well as numerous schools.
More recently, Paul has taken his artist impersonations into the realm of party events. Salvador Dali, or Pablo Picasso 'taking over' a birthday party or celebration is great fun. For more details of these events visit: www.filbertsplosh.co.uk
Why the name Filbert Splosh?
The name Filbert comes from the oil/acrylic paint brush of the same name and not, surprisingly, from the filbert nut, although Paul Priestley can be a little eccentric.
The word 'splosh' was chosen to imply the freedom and escape from the 'comfort zones' that he tries to instill in his students.
Paul’s courses are always stimulating, fun and richly informative. Why not join Paul on a unique journey into painting, stroll with him around the colours, textures and shapes and let your mind dance to a different tune.
Paul has exhibited his paintings in Herefordshire, Halifax, London and numerous other venues throughout the UK.
